National Identity Management Commission abbreviated as NIMC was established in 2007 by the NIMC Act No. 23 of 2007.
NIMC has the mandate to establish, own, operate, maintain and manage the National Identity Database in Nigeria, register persons covered by the Act, assign a Unique National Identification Number (NIN) and issue General Multi-Purpose Cards (GMPC) to those who are citizens of Nigeria as well as others legally residing within the country.
According to Act 2007, it provides for the establishment of the NIMC, its functions, powers, establishment of the National Identity Database, assignment and use of General Multi-purpose cards, and the National Identification Number (NIN). The Act also provides the Commission with powers to make regulations connected with its functions. The NIMC Act 2007 provides the repeal of the law that created the former Department of National Civic Registration (DNCR) and the transfer of its assets and liabilities to the NIMC.

I have done my nimc but they said my details is lost
Hello NIMC, I enrolled for the NIN since 2018 and up till now, I haven’t gotten the NIN. I just have the enrollment slip and it can’t be used for anything. I tried again today, and I was told that there is an internal problem in Abuja and i have to rectify it. Please what do I do? I can’t enrol again. Here is my details.

Pls,my son has enrolled 5times on the advice of the enrollers at the state office, yet it’s been saying IPE. He used my NIN to generate his own as he is underage.His fingerprints have been used to search for it, but to no avail.He wants to write JAMB,but without NIN he can’t.

Please nimc I used my slip of the registration of nimc given to open my bank account number and credited the account, later to get my money back from bank, they told me that my print out slip from mimic is not submitted to you and is different from my bvn in the bank, from the bank I was told to go back mimic centre to do the update in which I have done since September so that I can be able to withdraw my money from bank account.please these has caused many issue in my family, please don’t let this bring seperation to my marriage thanks for your timely response.
