FCT is the acronym for the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria. Different from what the majority know, Abuja is in FCT, with other Area councils. Late General Murtala Mohammed created Abuja in 1976 which was strategically located in the center of Nigeria. Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria was moved from Lagos to Abuja and officially became Nigeria’s capital on 12 December 1991.

FCT is divided into six (6) Area Councils which are AMAC, Bwari, Kuje, Gwagwalada, Kwali, and Abaji. FCT has a total land area of about 7,607 Km2.

The 6 Area Councils in FCT (Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria) are AMAC (Abuja Municipal Area Council), Bwari, Kuje, Gwagwalada, Kwali, and Abaji. Major Cities in Abuja (AMAC)  are Asokoro, Garki, Maitama, Wuse, Kado, Durumi, Jabi, Mabushi, Gudu, Katampe, Gwarinpa, Lugbe.
