Ebonyi State is among the 36 states in Nigeria created on 1 October 1996. It is in the South of the Eastern region of Nigeria, created from parts of both Enugu State and Abia State. It is inhabited and populated primarily by Igbo. Its capital and largest city is Abakaliki. Ebonyi State is the 33rd largest state in Nigeria with a total land area is 6,400 Km2 and its slogan is “Salt of the Nation” due to its huge salt deposit.
