Gombe State is among the 36 states in Nigeria and the capital of Gombe city. It is popularly called the “Jewel of Savannah” with a total land area of 17,100 Km2. Gombe state came into existence on 1 October 1996 during the regime of the late General Sani Abacha, carved out of the old Bauchi State. It share boundaries with Yobe state to the North, Borno and Adamawa states to the East and Bauchi state to the West and Taraba State to the South.
