Nigeria, the giant of Africa is grouped into six (6) geopolitical zones in which consists of similar tribes, cultures, various background etc. It was created during the regime of the former president of Nigeria President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida. Below is the list of geopolitical zones with their states in Nigeria.
- North Central: it is also called middles belt and consist of 6 states which includes Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Nassarawa, Niger, Plateau, and FCT (Federal Capital Territory Abuja and environ) inclusive.
- North East: it consists of 6 states which include Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba, and Yobe state
- North West: it consists of 7 states which include Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Zamfara state
- South East: it consists of 5 states which include Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo state
- South South: it consists of 6 states which include Akwa-Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross-River, Delta, Edo and Rivers state
- South West: it consists of 6 states which include Ekiti, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Osun and Oyo state
